Amazing Performance on TED.com

Pamelia Kurstin plays the theremin. No, she's not making eerie sci-fi sound effects; she plays standards. Her rendition of "Autumn Leaves" is amazing, and not only does she jazz it up halfway through, but she does a bass solo that's top notch. She's accompanied on the piano by Makoto Ozone. This is actually from an older TED conference, but it's recently been released and is worth seeing.

Another Interesting Game from Jay is Games.com

Angular Momentum is a fun little diversion. You must guide your ball through a series of chambers by using your left and right mouse keys to control the momentum of the ball. Along the way, you encounter various boosts and jumps, and, of course, things to avoid. The soundtrack works well with the graphics, though it soon becomes annoying. Have fun!

Packing Tape Paintings

Mark Khaisman is an artist who creates wonderful paintings by layering semi-transparent brown packing tape. The technique is quite innovative and beautifully executed. The sepia coloration lends itself well to the moody nior genre.

Disappearing Car Doors

JATECH has invented an amazing car door. It's really worth looking at, though the video is poor. I remember as a child being obsessed with redesigning car doors. Probably a result of loving the Mercedes Gullwing so much.

Beautiful Industrial Photography

National Geographic has some incredible photos of the CERN supercollider. Photographer Peter Ginter uses a nearly panoramic technique that really captures the scale of the installation.

Star Wars according to a 3 year old.

This is utterly adorable! I love her comments about C3PO.

WELCOME TO MY NEW BLOG!

Like many, I spend free time visiting my favorite websites; which are themselves blogs or posts. I find lots of interesting and amusing stuff that, for one reason or another, catches my attention.

Sometimes I find a tidbit that I think a friend would find amusing, and will e-mail them a link; if I remember. Other times there are items that are useful or inspiring to my own world, and though I try not to, I usually forget about them.

So SHERMANATIONS is born; to become a repository and shared compendium of what interests me.

I hope you enjoy it.
