Here is a posting on Inventor's Spot which describes the accidental way in which Silly Putty, the Slinky, and popsicles were invented. I like the popsicle story.

- I like to throw around words like "art" and "design" as though I know what they mean. The same is true for the interchangeable way I describe my self as "artist" or "designer" I can only say that they both seem to have something to do with observing and making. That is what I do.
